UC Davis Medical Center is a top performing hospital according to national research released by Healthgrades, the leading website consumers use to choose hospitals and doctors.

The medical center received accolades for high-quality patient care, known as Specialty Excellent Awards, in eight specialty areas. It earned a specialty award for cardiac care. In addition, for the third year in a row the medical center was named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for:

  • Critical care
  • Gastrointestinal care
  • Gastrointestinal surgery
  • Pulmonary care
  • Stroke care
  • Cranial neurosurgery excellence
  • Neurosciences excellence

“UC Davis Health is committed to delivering compassionate, exceptional care to all our patients,” said Joseph Galante, chief medical officer of UC Davis Medical Center. “These awards are a testament to the expertise, commitment and compassion of our physicians, nurses and other care team members who consistently strive to provide the highest quality of care and best clinical outcomes by putting our patients first every day.”

Healthgrades evaluates hospital quality for conditions and procedures based solely on clinical outcomes to help consumers understand and compare hospital performance to support their care choices.

To determine its 2025 awards, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data on more than 45 million Medicare medical claims records of the most recent three-year time period available for approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Other select data included: patient surveys from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and patient outcome data for all patients, regardless of their insurance coverage, from states that make their data available.
