Age Spots, Brown Spots and Freckles
Brown skin discolorations are caused by chronic over-exposure to sunlight or tanning lights. They appear as flat or slightly raised areas of varying shades of brown and result from an increase in pigment production and changes in our skin in response to sunlight.
Sagging and Folding Skin, Volume Loss
Sagging skin is caused by chronic over-exposure to sunlight or tanning lights and the normal loss of facial tissue and bone volume as we age. These folds and circles lead to what is often perceived as an aged or tired looking face.
Unwanted changes in skin tone and texture result from chronic sun damage, as well as the natural aging process. Skin roughness and other textural changes result from dryness and the formation of scales, in addition to benign and pre-cancerous growths.
Sun exposure and chronic, long term movement of facial muscles can lead to wrinkles and fine lines on the face, neck and chest. The appearance of wrinkles and fine lines can be dramatically reduced with the injection of botulinum toxin (commonly called “Botox”) directly into problem areas.
Acne scarring most often occurs on the face, chest, and back. While the scars can range from slight depressions to deep and hollowed ones, they can result in emotional distress and self-esteem issues.
Port-Wine Stains and Vascular Malformations
Vascular malformations occur in a number of forms and can occur at birth or develop during one’s lifetime. Types of vascular malformations include angiokeratoma, cherry angioma, hemangioma, port-wine stains, pyogenic granuloma and telangiectasias, among others.
Spider veins are small red, purple, or blue veins visible on the thighs and lower legs. They are caused by abnormalities in blood flow and damaged valves within the veins.
