Cosmetic Dermatology - Age Spots, Brown Spots and Freckles
Brown skin discolorations are caused by chronic over-exposure to sunlight or tanning lights. These discolorations may be referred to as age spots, sun spots, liver spots, freckles or lentigines. They appear as flat or slightly raised areas of varying shades of brown and result from an increase in pigment production and changes in our skin in response to sunlight.
The UC Davis Department of Dermatology offers a variety of effective and minimally invasive treatments including laser skin resurfacing, fractionated laser rejuvenation, photofacial and light source rejuvenation, chemical peels and microdermabrasion to reduce the appearance of these age spots.
If you would like to discuss improving the appearance of your age and brown spots, please request a consultation to speak with our cosmetic dermatologists. Please call 916-734-6111 or 800-770-9282.
