Cosmetic Dermatology - Sagging and Folding Skin, Volume Loss
Sagging skin is caused by chronic over-exposure to sunlight or tanning lights and the normal loss of facial tissue and bone volume as we age. Deep folds can form around the nose, mouth and chin. Dark circles around the eyes become more pronounced as the hollowed or sunken appearance creates a “shadow effect”. These folds and circles lead to what is often perceived as an aged or tired looking face.
The UC Davis cosmetic dermatology service counteracts these changes by restoring the lost tissue volume. Cosmetic fillers composed of natural substances such as collagen and hyaluronic acid help our patients achieve a healthier, youthful appearance. Combination therapy using fillers, along with laser and light therapy, can often lead to added results.
If you would like to discuss improving the appearance of your skin folds or sagging skin, please request a consultation to speak with our cosmetic dermatologists. Please call 916-734-6111 or 800-770-9282.
