Philosophy of Care

I strive to provide the best clinically appropriate and culturally competent care to those that are injured or require emergency general surgery care no matter their circumstances, social background or resources.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Cocanour is a Trauma and Emergency General Surgeon who also specializes in Surgical Critical Care. She is the Medical Director of UCDH's Surgical Intensive Care Unit and is on the trauma and acute care surgery call panel at UCDH.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Cocanour's research interest is in improving care to those that are injured or those that require surgical critical care. This includes improving pain management, reducing unplanned intubations or providing best practice guidelines for trauma surgeons throughout the country through her work on the Best practice Guidelines committee of the American College of Surgeon's Committee on Trauma.
