Philosophy of Care

I try to always tailor my surgical approach to fit the individual patient; the patient has the majority vote. Sometimes the best approach is nonoperative with close monitoring.

Clinical Interests

John Anderson's current interests are surgical management of traumatic injuries, emergency surgery, management of complex abdominal hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction, management of parastomal hernias, repair of groin hernias without mesh.

Research/Academic Interests

Novel approaches to treatment of parastomal and incisional abdominal hernias. anatomy, medical illustration. Repair of groin hernias without mesh. Applications of new technology, particularly for monitoring of cardiovascular and pulmonary function in critically injured patients. Assessment of adequacy of resuscitation in trauma patients.
