Sustaining a traumatic injury is often one of the most trying times in a patient's life. I strive to provide values-centered care rooted in empathy, compassion, and respect. I work together with my patients and their families to ensure they understand the diagnosis, treatment plan, and resources available to help assist them on their road to recovery.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Smith is a general surgeon who focuses on trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care. He has a particular interest in complex traumatic surgical disease along with improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness of care in both the operating room and the trauma bay.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Smith's academic interests are focused on surgical education and the advancements in the delivery of care. This includes medical student and resident education, cost-effectiveness, efficiency improvements, and disparities in healthcare outcomes.
