Philosophy of Care

My goal is to deliver person-centered, equitable care effectively and efficiently. As a transplant surgeon, I aim to provide more opportunities and better outcomes for patients with end-stage organ disease by optimizing organ selection, recovery, preservation, transplantation, and patient management.

I believe that "transplantation" requires multidisciplinary teamwork and that patients and their families are crucial transplant team members.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Sageshima is a fellowship-trained transplant surgeon offering care for patients with end-stage organ disease. Sageshima has special clinical interest and expertise in adult and pediatric kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, living donor surgery, organ recovery/preservation, and vascular/peritoneal dialysis access surgery.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Sageshima's research focuses on improving healthcare outcomes; he collaborates with diverse stakeholders to maximize population health and optimize healthcare delivery in patients with end-stage organ disease. Sageshima utilizes multimodal data analyses of organs, donors, and recipients by machine learning and artificial intelligence. Sageshima assesses the impact of new science and technology, such as transplant tolerance, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery.
