Commencement holds special significance for our school’s degree candidates as well as their families and friends. Congratulations on your special day!

The following information provides you with useful information and what to expect at our commencement celebration from previous years.

Information for graduates

  • Graduates assemble prior to the ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the Studio Theater located in the Mondavi Center. Detailed commencement instructions provided in May.
  • The ceremony includes remarks by the School of Nursing dean and student speakers, presentation of awards and the conferring of degrees.
  • Cap and gown rental: Online ordering is available through the UC Davis Store commencement site. Deadline to order is April 22.
  • Registration: Each graduate will need to register to participate in the School of Nursing ceremony to ensure we have all of your information correct, including how you’d like your name announced. Please remember to register via the link that was shared with you by email. 

Tickets

Each graduate will receive 10 tickets. Tickets to attend the commencement ceremony are free of charge and distributed to graduates in advance of the ceremony. Please reach out to your graduate to receive your ticket. Tickets are required for admission for all guests (including infants and children). Seating is general admission.

For the convenience of all guests with limited mobility, we advise them to arrive as early as possible to locate seating.

Parking and directions

Per campus parking regulations, graduates and guests will need to register for complimentary parking for our commencement ceremony at the Mondavi Center. Our ceremony has a unique voucher code (GRAD2025) you and your guests will use to register online for parking. Permits are available now to redeem.

How to register for complimentary parking

  1. Navigate to parking.ucdavis.edu
  2. Click on Special Event Parking
  3. Select Commencement Ceremonies under Event Type
  4. Select the ceremony you will be attending  
  5. Enter the coupon code provided by Ceremonies & Events: (GRAD2025)
  6. Select Commencement Parking Permit ($0.00) under Permit Type
  7. Confirm the date of the event
  8. Click Add Vehicle information
  9. Review the Permission to Park Agreement and select I Agree at the bottom  
  10. Enter your email address and checkout for the $0 amount 

Mondavi Center Parking and Directions

Bag policy

Bags, signs or other items larger than 11x8.5 inches must be checked at the Mondavi Center’s complimentary coat check.

At UC Davis, we take special measures to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and guests at our events. All bags are subject to search before being allowed into the Mondavi Center. The list of prohibited items in the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts includes:

  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Artificial noisemakers or noisemaking devices of any kind, laser pointers
  • Helium balloons
  • Photography poles, sticks or tripods
  • Large signs or flags
  • Food or beverages (only sealed bottled water or empty refillable bottles allowed)
  • Tobacco products, alcoholic beverages
  • Weapons (guns, pepper spray, sharp objects)
  • Transportation devices (bikes, scooters, etc.)
  • Any other item(s) determined by event management to be dangerous or inappropriate will not be allowed into the venue

Due to safety concerns, strollers and baby carriages are not allowed on the main floor.

Webcast

The School of Nursing commencement is broadcast live via a webcast for friends and family members unable to attend the ceremony. A recording of the webcast is also available online for several months following the ceremony. Please see the UC Davis Commencement Webcasts website

Useful links for out-of-town guests

We encourage out-of-town guests to make reservations for accommodations early, as commencement events brings many visitors to Davis and Sacramento and lodging becomes scarce. The same goes for restaurants — make a reservation in advance. *
