Innovative spaces promote innovations in health care
Betty Irene Moore Hall is an innovative, state-of-the-science facility that is home to the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. It is a place where students are engaged through dynamic learning environments, where education sparks innovation and where leaders grow.
The 70,000-square-foot structure is the fourth structure in the educational area of the UC Davis Sacramento campus and provides learning space for future health professionals in nursing, medicine, health informatics, public health and more. Every square inch was strategically designed to further the school’s mission and leadership development of nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants pursuing master’s degrees, health care professionals working toward master’s and doctoral degrees as well as students pursuing new nursing careers.
The building advances UC Davis’ nationally recognized innovative use of clinical simulation. It features simulation labs where clinical scenarios play out on one side and debriefing rooms on the other side provide an environment to discuss the actions and decisions taken during the life-like exercises. Students also develop clinical skills in an inpatient, eight-bed hospital ward, task and anatomy skills lab, a 15-room primary care clinic and a one-bedroom home health simulation suite.
The spaces throughout Betty Irene Moore Hall support a vibrant group of committed students and creative faculty from a variety of professional disciplines, who all share the common desire to advance health, shape policy and improve quality of care for everyone.
