The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks scholars for the Heather M. Young Postdoctoral Fellowship. The school especially seeks scholars with research interests in family caregiving, development of technology to promote healthy aging as well as community-based approaches to improving quality of life and care for older adults. Up to three fellows will be admitted each year (2019-2023) based on alignment with a research mentor and focus. All fellowships are for one year with possible renewal for a second year. The school plans to award 10 fellowships over five years. The fellowship program is sponsored by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in recognition of the school’s founding dean, Heather M. Young (2008-2018), and her career-long commitment to healthy aging. The fellowship was created to further advance the school’s ongoing healthy aging research and also prepare future faculty to teach and continue research in healthy aging. Scholars receive an annual salary based on the National Institutes for Health postdoctoral salary scale, University of California benefits and additional support funds for research and professional development.
Scholars are required to have a doctorate in nursing or a related field.
Faculty mentors for the 2020-21 fellowships will be announced in March 2020. Successful candidates are paired with the faculty mentor based on area of focus and interest. Applicants with interests in other areas that align with healthy aging are also considered.
