Welcome to Betty Irene Moore Hall
This summer, we welcome small groups of students, faculty and staff into Betty Irene Moore Hall for simulation learning. Whether this is their first visit to Betty Irene Moore Hall as a new a student or a return after months away, working and learning together in this space is an adjustment for us all.

UC Davis Health released a statement on its commitment to transgender and non-binary communities this week - please take a moment to read it here if you haven’t already done so.
While we celebrate Monday’s Supreme Court ruling that gay and transgender workers are protected by federal law forbidding discrimination, we are also mindful that all practices must be inclusive to secure LGBTQ+ rights. The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing will work with our campus and community partners to ensure health and health equity are truly for all.

Our communities are facing terrible tragedies. COVID-19 has claimed thousands of lives that disproportionality affect members of our local communities. In the midst of this public health crisis, we face yet another turning point in how we will respond and rebuild. The death of George Floyd sparked a call that cannot go unheeded by our country. His death and the death and disproportionate incarceration of countless African Americans and people of color are the result of systemic racism and abuse of power. This fact must guide our future.
As we watch national and international protests unfold to demand change and navigate these difficult days ahead, please know that we stand ready to support you, our students, as you prepare to lead in your communities — to address disparities in health outcomes and equity of access to education and employment. We must work to ensure all voices and aspirations are heard. I want you to know that our School of Nursing shares a commitment to dismantling systems that advantage one group compared to another. We also know our work is not done and we will not succeed by words alone. We commit to working with students, faculty, staff and community members to be part of the solution.
To all students, faculty and staff, as a member of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, I recognize your thoughts and reaction to current events are deeply personal and you may be impacted in different ways. I want you to know that your physical, mental and emotional health is a priority and we are here to support your well-being.
