Sandy Pon, R.N.-B.C., M.S.N.
Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor
Sandy Pon is a health sciences assistant clinical professor for the MEPN program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Her practice specialty is in cardiology, working primarily with patients undergoing interventional cardiac, electrophysiology and vascular procedures and patients requiring advanced heart failure therapies.
Pon has achieved certification as a cardiac-vascular nurse and clinical nurse educator, working as a clinical resource nurse providing staff education and support. Her focus has been to help students develop a strong foundation for their nursing practice She has been a clinical nurse at UC Davis Cardiology Services since 2006.
Pon’s teaching journey began with the creation of the New Graduate Nursing Residency Program at UC Davis, where she served as a Facilitator for the first 6 cohorts of the program. She began teaching nursing skills and assessment and became a clinical instructor at California State University, Sacramento. She joined the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing in 2020 teaching nursing skills, assessment and serving as a clinical instructor in the MEPN program.
Pon received both her BSN and MSN from California State University, Sacramento. She received a BS in Biochemistry at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and has worked in both the wine and biotechnology industries.
