UC Davis Health 2026 Loan Program for the DNP-Nurse Anesthesia degree program
UC Davis Health is encouraging students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia (DNP-NA) degree program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing to become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) at UC Davis Health after graduation.
To that end, UC Davis Health is offering up to ten forgivable loans to students in the DNP-NA degree program (Loan Program). Students must apply for the loans at the end of their first academic year and if accepted must complete 36 months of full-time service credit working as a CRNA at UC Davis Health, as well as meet other loan conditions, to have their UC Davis Health loan forgiven.

- Eligibility: Year 1 students in the 2025-2028 cohort of the DNP-NA degree program
- Loan forgiveness amount: Year 2 and Year 3 tuition and fees
- Service commitment: Loan forgiveness is in exchange for 3 years of full-time employment service credit as a CRNA at UC Davis Health
- Application period: Applications open Mar. 30 – Apr. 10, 2026
Who is eligible for the program?
- Full-time students currently enrolled in Year 1 of the DNP-NA Degree Program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis (the 2025 – 2028 cohort).
- Students in good academic standing.
How much will the loan cover?
- The Loan Program will cover Year 2 and Year 3 tuition and fees.
- For the class of 2028, annual tuition and fee cost is $51,666.00, the total loan principal amount would be for $103,332.00.
- Students are solely responsible for Year 1 tuition and fees.
How do I fulfill the conditions of the loan?
- Maintain annual cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all three academic years in the DNP-NA Degree Program.
- Maintain expectation of professionalism in alignment with the Professionalism and Codes of Conduct outlined in the DNP-NA student handbooks and on the School of Nursing website.
- Complete the DNP-NA Degree Program in 12 consecutive quarters (36 months).
- Pass the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) National Certification Examination (NCE) and obtain an unrestricted CRNA license from the California Board of Registered Nursing within six months of graduation.
- Apply for employment at UC Davis Health as a CRNA within 30 days of passing the NBCRNA NCE.
- Satisfy all UC Davis Health criteria for employment at time of application.
- Accept an offer of employment at UC Davis Health as a CRNA and remain continuously employed for the full service period.
- Maintain continuous employment as a CRNA at UC Davis Health and accrue 36 months of full-time employment service credit.
- Maintain all credentialing and privileging requirements appropriate for CRNA employment.
- Maintain an unrestricted RN and CRNA license in the State of California during the service period.
How are the funds disbursed?
- If you are selected for the Loan Program, your Year 2 and Year 3 tuition and fees will be disbursed to the School of Nursing on your behalf.
- Students will not receive the tuition funding directly.
What happens if I don’t meet the conditions of the loan?
- The loan principal will start to accrue interest at an annual rate of 5% and be due over a ten year period beginning 180 days (6 months) after a repayment condition is triggered. For example:
- If a student withdraws from the DNP-NA degree program, the loan will come due 6 months after they withdraw from the program.
- If a loan recipient leaves UC Davis Health employment as a CRNA before meeting the 36-month full-time service credit requirement, the loan will come due 6 months after they leave service.
- ECSI (Educational Computer Systems, Inc.) is the University of California approved loan servicer for the Loan Program.
What happens if I don’t get selected for a loan?
- Students who apply and are not selected for the Loan Program will be responsible for tuition and fees for Year 2 and Year 3 of the DNP-NA Degree Program.
- Not being selected for a loan does not negatively impact a student applying for employment with UC Davis Health in the future.

- Students can request an unofficial transcript through MyUCDavis CV (Uploaded as a PDF)
- Personal statement speaking to your short or long-term career goals, particularly as they relate to a career as a CRNA with UC Davis Health (PDF)
- Responses should be limited to approximately 500 words and no more than one page of text in 12 point font CV (PDF).
- Approval of release of information from the School of Nursing to the UC Davis Health Loan Program Selection Committee for review as part of application for the Loan Program as follows:.
- NRS 366A Basic Simulation Student Evaluations
- Confirmation of current enrollment in the DNP-NA Degree Program
- Approval of release of information from the School of Nursing to the UC Davis Health Loan Program to aid in ongoing confirmation of eligibility for the Loan Program. This information will only be released if applicant is selected as a loan recipient:
- Confirmation of ongoing enrollment in the DNP-NA degree program
- Confirmation of annual cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Notification of academic notice or unsatisfactory performance as relates to professionalism expectations and codes of conduct as noted on the School of Nursing website and in the DNP-NA student handbooks.
- Notification of when graduate passes the NBCRNA National Certification Examination. The UC Davis Health Loan Program will only be notified when the graduate passes the exam. They will not be notified if the graduate fails an attempt.

- March 30 - April 10, 2026: Application open
- April 11-23, 2026: Applications processed and reviewed
- April 24, 2026: Select applicants are invited to interview
- April 28-29, 2026: Applicant interviews are held by UC Davis Health Loan Program Selection Committee.
- Interviews are slated to take place in the following blocks*:
- Tuesday, Apr. 28, 2026 between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. PT
- Wednesday, Apr. 29, 2026 between 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PT
- Applicants are encouraged to hold this time on their calendars.
- Interviews will take place via Zoom or other virtual platform.
- Interviews will be approximately 20 minutes in length.
- *If needed, the Selection Committee reserves the right to schedule interviews between April 27 - May 6, 2026.
- Interviews are slated to take place in the following blocks*:
- May 22, 2026: Applicants will be notified if they have or have not been selected for a loan.
- Early June 2026: Applicants selected for the Loan Program will receive loan program documents from the UC Davis Office of Financial Aid with instructions on how to complete the loan. The Loan Program will be governed by the conditions in the Promissory Note and loan documents, as well as the Program Conditions and Acknowledgment documents they receive at that time.
