Commencement holds special significance for our school’s degree candidates as well as their families and friends. Congratulations on your special day!

The following information provides you with useful information about our commencement celebration.

Information for graduates

  • Graduates assemble prior to the ceremony at 8:45 a.m. in the Studio Theater located in the Mondavi Center. Detailed commencement instructions provided in May.
  • The ceremony includes remarks by the School of Nursing dean and student speakers, presentation of awards and the conferring of degrees.
  • Cap and gown rental: Online ordering is available through the UC Davis Store commencement site. Deadline to order is April 24.
  • Name reading: You may use your preferred name for announcement when you cross the stage. To ensure we have your name correct, please remember to register via the link sent to you by Full Measure to confirm your details and provide phonetic spelling. The deadline to register is May 6.

Tickets

Each graduate will receive 10 tickets. Tickets to attend the commencement ceremony are free of charge and distributed to graduates in advance of the ceremony. Tickets are required for admission for all guests (including infants and children) and provided to you by your graduate. Seating is general admission.

For the convenience of all guests with limited mobility, we advise them to arrive as early as possible to locate seating.

COVID-19 protocols

As of March 20, all guests at the ceremony are required to:

  • Present proof of vaccination with ID. Attendees can show their CDC Vaccine Card (phone image acceptable) or digital vaccine record from the state of California.
  • Guests who are not vaccinated (including children under the age of 5): A negative COVID-19 test result from the last 48 hours (must be a lab/PCR/TMA test). Point-of-Care Antigen Tests must be administered within 24 hours of the event time. Home antigen tests are not accepted.
  • COVID-19 protocols may change. Please visit the Mondavi Center’s website for detailed COVID-19 information and check back closer to the event.

Parking and directions

Parking is free for those attending the commencement ceremony in the South Entry parking structure and adjacent Lots 1 and 2. Visit the Mondavi parking web page to view the map for parking areas.

A portion of the parking structure’s ground level is reserved for vehicles displaying disabled person placards or plates. Guests with limited mobility may be dropped off and picked up in front of the Mondavi Center.

Webcast

The School of Nursing commencement is broadcast live via a webcast for friends and family members unable to attend the ceremony. A recording of the webcast is also available online for several months following the ceremony. Please see the UC Davis Commencement Webcasts website.

Useful links for out-of-town guests

We encourage out-of-town guests to make reservations for accommodations early, as commencement events brings many visitors to Davis and Sacramento and lodging becomes scarce. The same goes for restaurants — make a reservation in advance. *
