Laura Senn, Ph.D., R.N.-C., C.N.S-B.C., C.H.S.E.
Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor
Laura Senn is a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She primarily teaches courses in the Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN).Senn’s work has focused on enhancing safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care for women and their newborns. She is passionate about improving the quality of care provided to all birthing people and their newborns.
With over 20 years of experience, Senn has taught undergraduate nursing students in California and Minnesota, including California State University BSN programs (Sacramento and San Jose), University of San Francisco, Minnesota State University and University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. She has developed and co-taught a study abroad course on intercultural sensitivity, communication, and healthcare delivery systems worldwide.
In addition to teaching, Senn’s clinical practice includes roles as a Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist, hospital Nurse Educator, and Direct Patient Care RN for over 30 years. Her scholarship includes several publications and numerous national, state, and local podium presentations. Senn provides service to the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) as the California Section Membership Coordinator and is certified by AWHONN as an instructor for their Obstetric Patient Safety (OPS): OB Emergencies course. She earned her graduate degrees (PhD & MS) at the University of Minnesota and her BSN at San Francisco State University.
