Paula Brumbeloe, M.H.A., R.N.Paula Brumbeloe, M.H.A., R.N.

Paula Brumbeloe is a clinical instructor intern with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Brumbeloe is a registered nurse with 29 years of clinical experience specializing in critical care. In her role as an intensive care unit nurse, she has developed proficiency in providing excellent care utilizing evidence-based practices. Brumbeloe has extensive leadership and mentoring knowledge, having served as director of nursing at a long-term and rehabilitation care facility and, more recently, precepting new critical care nurses.

Brumbeloe earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Carey University and she earned her Master of Science in Health Administration/Health Care Operations Certification from Capella University. She currently works as a critical care nurse at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose. Her clinical and educational interests include promoting evidence-based care to patients.


Lillian Hawthorne, M.S.N., R.N.Lillian Hawthorne, M.S.N., R.N.

Lillian Hawthorne is a clinical instructor intern with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. With over 25 years of dedicated service in the nursing profession, Hawthorne is a highly skilled and versatile registered nurse recognized for her clinical excellence, leadership and deep commitment to patient care.

Throughout her career, Hawthorne has provided expert-level nursing care in critical care environments. Hawthorne has held key administrative roles, such as director of clinical education and interim assistant privacy officer. In these roles, she led initiatives to improve clinical competency, uphold regulatory compliance and enhance patient privacy protocols across healthcare systems. Hawthorne earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.


Mey Mey Heng, B.S.N., R.N.Mey Mey Heng, B.S.N., R.N.

Mey Mey Heng is a clinical instructor intern with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Heng graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient and public health. Heng has leadership, teaching, mentorship and community service experience in a wide range of specialty areas.

Heng is passionate about medicine and continuing to make a difference in people's lives. Her goal is to help individuals live a happy, healthy life and to provide the best holistic patient centered care as possible. As an educator, Heng strives to create profound impact, inspire resilience, ignite hope, and provide every student with the tools, opportunities and confidence to create change and build a better future for themselves and their communities.


Patricia Sabala, M.S.N., R.N. Patricia Sabala, M.S.N., R.N.

Patricia Sabala is a clinical instructor intern with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Sabala is a registered nurse (RN) with six years of clinical experience in acute care, infusion therapy, and home health. She currently serves as a bedside nurse on an acute surgical unit at Mercy General Hospital and as a clinic manager and infusion RN at Pure Infusion Suites.

Sabala has a strong passion for patient care and education. She precepts new graduate nurses and student nurses on the acute surgical unit, where she shares her clinical knowledge and supports their transition into practice. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based care and empowering patients through education. Sabala earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Sacramento City College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in leadership from Grand Canyon University.
