A creative and meaningful project is a critical element of the fellowship program. The project is an opportunity to explore a relevant area of the fellow's scholarship and accelerate their progress toward impact. Projects reflect the fellow's passion for what they want to accomplish in the world.

Fellowship projects address an important question or develop and test an innovative idea, generating new knowledge and insights with the potential for widespread impact. Projects are scoped appropriately for completion within 24 to 30 months and accomplished within the project budget.

Projects take different forms, including:

  • Research study
  • Implementation of an evidence- based intervention incorporating implementation science
  • Inventions that incorporate a rapid cycle design process

As part of the application process, the fellow describes the vision for their project's impact. Once selected for the fellowship, they refine their project plans and budgets in collaboration with program faculty during the first six months of the program.
